Cruising for fashionistas

prada1I do have my fashionista side, even if I fought it on my recent visit to Venice, stopping in Prada only to smell the leather and drool, but then quickly moving on, my credit cards unscathed (oh why oh why does the Euro remain so high?).

In any event, a cruise offering from Crystal Cruises has tickled my fancy. The luxury line will be giving its well-heeled clientele a chance to seek the advice of fashion experts on an upcoming fashion-themed sailing.

Manning the “Fashion & Style Desk, and offering complimentary advice will be two veteran

wardrobe stylists, Anna Wyckoff, a Los Angeles-based costume designer and personal wardrobe stylist; and Gayle Davis, co-owner of the M Stevens dancewear company, who also custom designs and styles her own label.

The experts will also be offering lectures on the fashionable voyage, including on such topics as “Personal Style – Embracing Authenticity as a Virtue – from Bardot to Bogart: A discussion of signature styles.” There’s also a talk on European Cinema Costuming (including La Dolce Vitaand Roman Holiday, set in the ship’s destinations). And there will be discussion of Europe’s “Fashion Evolution” from the 1950s to 1960s, as well as a Fashion Show tea, featuring vintage fashions.

And men, there are vows that you will be included too.

The “Sun, Sea and Euro Style” is on the Crystal Serenity, 12 nights from Venice to Barcelona, departing Oct. 20. Fares are from $4,515 per person.
